About Bakachol – Motherland Bakachol Welfare Society Nepal

The village Bakacho is situated at 1600m-2700m of altitude in Khotang known as inaccessible district or second Karnali region of Nepal, South east of Mount Everest. To get over there: 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lamidanda and 2 days walk to reach the village on a mountainside. If we chose to get over there by bus we should have to count at least 2 days in bus and 2 days walk. In Bakachol there are 90 % of the villagers are farmers. Their farming system is traditional based farming system. To gain normal economic life, traditional based farming is not sufficient for villagers.

Naturally, Bakachol is most beautiful village of Nepal. For rearing of beats or castle there are a lots of natural resources such as forest and other basic needs for castle and agriculture but there is no market to sell their product and service. There are various cultural diversity and different types of ethnic group. Main ethnic groups are Rai, Tamang, Kshetri, Braman, Samyasi,Sherpa etc.

We Bakachole peoples are evading our daily life without minimum basic needs and requirement. We have eyes but we can’t see, we have ears but we can’t listen. Its main mission is to rescue that person, who is injured by accidental incident and serious types of illness as soon as possible by helicopter, help them for their medical treatment in hospital, scholarship to needy and laborious students to uplift the educational standard etc.

We know that 21st century is an era of global village. Day by day, world is keep being smaller and shorter grace of new investigation of science. But Bakachol is long isolated from even the most basic health services, transport, education and communication. From our established period we are playing a lot of positives roles for Bakachol.

According Central Bureau of Statistic in Nepal, in Bakachol there are 623 household and total populations is 2,909 (male 1, 372 &female 1, 537). According Eco Himal Nepal, there are 643 household and total populations is 3,429. There are some tables with details below was surveyed by Eco Himal at 2012.
